Beyond the Classroom Conference 2014

OLC welcomes Katrice Horsley to Beyond the Classroom 2014 to share her passion for storytelling through delivering the key-note address that will launch the outdoors as the place to learn and engage all.

Her keynote and workshops will build on the underpinning theme of the conference on embedding outdoor learning into new National Curriculum and the importance of communication. Through explaining why storytelling works as a powerful educational tool and how, in the external environment, it can be even more potent and filled with potential. She will share the theoretical underpinning that supports its uses as well as recent findings in neuroscience that shows we all make sense of our world through narrative.

Katrice Horsley has a background in child development and adventure play. She has always been fascinated by words and their power, both in performance and in sculpting our identities and the social constructs we inhabit. It was whilst living and working in Ghana that she saw the true potential of storytelling and has since used it as a tool in performance, training and therapeutic arenas.

She has developed a reputation as a skilled and deft trainer and performer both nationally and internationally, working for UNHCR, UNICEF, British Council, British Heart Foundation to name but a few.

She is totally passionate about the power of story and this shines through in her work

Katrice will also provide the evening entertainment through an emotive fire side evening performance. Evening Tickets will be available if you can’t make the conference but would like to attend this event. Watch this space for more info…
